Design and Simulation of a 9-Level Inverter based on Selective Harmonic Elimination Using MATLAB/Simulink
Abstract
In this study, the MATLAB/Simulink and the Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE) technique was used to build and simulate an inverter with nine-level single-phase. The resulted inverter has the ability to generate a high-quality AC output with reduced harmonic distortion. The output waveform produced by the SHE is more like a sinusoid whereas it can optimize the switching angles and remove some lower-order harmonics. a significant reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) resulted from the simulation, indicating that the 9-level inverter with SHE is a viable choice for high-performance applications, including industrial motor drives, electric vehicles, and renewable energy systems.
